Due to the broadcasters’ interest in promoting Pakistan’s cricket stars, the bid has an enormous increase. Pakistan has enjoyed a great run in international cricket, and the Pakistan Cricket Board is helping galvanize the sport’s fan base.

After winning 12 of their last 13 T20Is, Babar Azam’s team finished 2021 with a record 20 wins in the short format, the most for an international team.

Salman Naseer, acting CEO of the PCB:

The unprecedented interest in the PSL broadcasting rights for 2022 shows how popular the tournament has become despite only having been introduced six years ago.”.

PSL has signed USD 24 million deal with A Sports and PTV Sports.

The consortium of ARY and PTV should be commended for valuing Pakistan cricket’s biggest product, which is inspiring thousands of young people to take up the sport.”

ARY Group CEO Salman Iqbal:

“I am delighted to have bid the highest amount for the HBL Pakistan Super League TV broadcast rights. ARY Group supports Pakistan and Pakistan cricket. It is a source of honor and joy for me to have exceeded the reserve price for the broadcast rights and to know that this money will go toward the development of Pakistan cricket.”

The PTV-ARY consortium’s bid for PSL violates a court order

Amir Manzoor, Managing Director of PTV:

For PSL Broadcasting Rights Price 2022, Pakistan Television has always supported Pakistan cricket. It gives me great pleasure to announce that Pakistan’s own league will once again be broadcast and promoted. HBL Pakistan Super League or PSL Broadcasting Rights Price 2022.”

As per the bidding instructions, the PTV-ARY consortium initially proposed a bid price of Rs2.1 billion, whereas Geo Super, following the instructions of the bidding process, listed a price for two years of Rs3.36 billion. PTV-ARY, however, claimed the offer was only for a year.

Geo Super’s bid was apparently higher in the first round of bidding than the PTV-ARY consortium, but the latter announced their quoted price was only for one year.

All bidders were asked to rebid by the PCB bidding committee.

During the rebid process, ARY and PTV offered Rs4.35 billion over two years. The Geo Super bid was Rs3.74 billion for two years. The Geo management protested the formation of the PTV-ARY partnership without inviting additional parties, because it was clearly contrary to the court’s ruling. The PCB’s bidding committee, however, said they had no jurisdiction over the matter and Geo was responsible for taking up the matter with any relevant platforms.

PCB had planned to broadcast the marquee event globally prior to this development. PCB had previously partnered with Willow TV to broadcast the event in North America. Flow Sports in the Caribbean, Sky Sports in the United Kingdom, Sky Sports in New Zealand, and SuperSport in Africa to broadcast its international home season and HBL Pakistan Super League from 2021 to 2023.
